Centre has no objection if Sindh desires to open markets: Governor Sindh

Karachi, April 21, 2020 (PPI-OT): Governor Sindh Imran Ismail has said that the federal government has no objection if Sindh government desires to open markets and provide any kind of assistance in this regard. This he said while talking with a delegation of All City Tajir Ittehad led by its President Hammad Poona Wala at Governor House here today. The other members of the delegation included Javed Qureshi, Abdul Qadir Noorani, Arif Jeeva, Muhammad Ali Qureshi, Javed Arsalan Khan, Muhammad Ahsan, Zahid Malik, Mansoor Kudwani, Atif Billo and Rizwan Zaveri.

 

Matters relating to close down of markets due to lock down, the problems of small traders due to the situation, permission of opening markets while observing SOPs and other mutual interests topics were discussed during the meeting. The Sindh governor said that small traders were badly hit by the lockdown due to coronavirus and this was the reason their demand of opening the market is fully endorsed, and supported.

 

He said that after 18th constitutional amendment, provinces are empowered to take decisions and implement the same on their own. Your grievances would be brought in the knowledge of Chief Minister Sindh, he promised. He said that corona was a national problem as all the provinces have people affected with Covid-19.

 

Prime Minister Imran Khan was attaching top priority to control this virus with the support of entire nation, he observed. Hammad Ponawala and other members of the delegation apprised Governor Sindh about the problems being faced by various sectors of small trade due to lock down and closure of markets. They also requested Governor Sindh to intervene in the matter.
