Karachi, October 31, 2014 (PPI-OT): ICI Pakistan and NutriCo Pakistan Pvt. Ltd. hosted a delegation from Japan led by Mr. Akira Ohno, Chairman of Japan’s Morinaga Milk Industry Co. Limited.
During the visit, Mr. Ohno accompanied by Messrs Sohail Tabba, Chairman, ICI Pakistan, Asif Jooma, CE, ICI Pakistan and Manzoor Ahmed, Chairman, NutriCo Pakistan, held meetings with the President, H.E. Mamnoon Hussain and the Prime Minister, H.E. Muhammad Mian Nawaz Sharif, during which the visitors apprised the President and Prime Minister on Morinaga’s interest in evaluating investment opportunities in Pakistan, including the setting up of a joint manufacturing facility for Morinaga infant nutrition products in the country.
In addition to introducing highly technical and quality manufacturing to Pakistan, this will also contribute to further strengthening Japan-Pakistan relations. The delegation spent a day each in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, and took a comprehensive tour of the markets, to assess the potential for infant and adult nutrition products in Pakistan first hand.
Morinaga has been in operation since 1917 and is a leading international player of infant formula, dairy products, drinks, candy, confectionaries and nutrition products. This venture is in line with ICI Pakistan’s brand promise of ‘Cultivating Growth.’
