Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme Marvi Memon visits office of The Frontier Post

Peshawar, August 31, 2016 (PPI-OT):Minister for State and Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Marvi Memon has said that Altaf Hussain has no role left in Pakistani politics and it is ‘Game, Checkmate’ for Altaf Hussain. She was talking exclusively to The Frontier Post during her visit to the office of FP in Peshawar. She thanked The Frontier Post for giving best coverage to BISP initiatives.

She said that the Federal Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along with the support of Army Chief General Raheel Sharif is committed to eradicate terrorism and bring peace in the country. She said with peace coming in Fata, now it would be much easier for BISP to reach the needy people of tribal areas as well. “BISP had done its survey six years ago and now there was need of a new survey which has already started beginning from Haripur,” Marvi Memon said.

Speaking about the new survey she said this time even the far-flung areas of Fata would also be touched and more people would be given financial assistance under BISP. When asked about the future of MQM and Altaf Hussain, Marvi Memon said she was happy finally someone has asked her opinion and she was waiting for long to answer this question. “This is the real face of MQM and now Altaf Hussain has himself shown his real face to the world openly,” Marvi said adding that she the game of Altaf Hussain is over and he has no more role to play in Pakistani politics.

Speaking about the criticism of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on PML-N the Minister for State said that creating tussle was in the DNA of PTI however PML-N believes in work, ‘work and work’. She said that Federal Government from the day first was ready to help PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. That is why BISP has provided the data to KP government for their Insaf Health Cards Scheme, which shows that PML-N does not believe in discrimination.

She further informed that major chunk of the financial help to BISP was given by the federal government while the donors including World Bank and DFID were giving more of technical support. “The technical assistance provided by World Bank and DFID gives BISP a global recognition,” Marvi added.

She said that over 1.3 million children have been enrolled in schools under the BISP’s Waseela-e-Taleem programme. When asked about fake SMS sent to people regarding BISP, she said over 16,000 complaints were received and taking action on them 7000 mobile SIMS were blocked for sending fake SMS. Marvi Memon said that there was zero tolerance for corruption in BISP and that was why there was a complete transparent system was in place.

She said PML-N would form the next government as well after winning the 2018 elections. She also predicted heavy mandate in Sindh for PML-N in next general elections. In reply to a question regarding the bill she had presented in National Assembly demanding to announce all languages spoken in Pakistan as National Language, she said it was part of PML-N manifesto and PML-N government would soon pass the bill.
