Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar, Minister for Defence calls on Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani

Islamabad: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said that joint strategy to monitor cross border movement on the western borders would greatly help check infiltration of undesirable elements damaging the efforts to bring about peace and stability in the region. Pakistan, he added, desires the success of Afghan owned reconciliation peace process which would positively impact the security environment.

The Prime Minister was talking to Ch Ahmad Mukhtar, Minister for Defence who called on him here at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat this morning to brief him on the recent development regarding the security situation on the western borders.

The Prime Minister assured the Defence Minister that the government would continue to support and help to the armed forces to face the security challenges being faced by the Nation.

The Minister for Defence also apprised the Prime Minister on the upgradation of defence and military installations as well as efforts to curb militancy.
