Chinese Ambassador calls on Prime Minister

Islamabad, June 29, 2013 (PPI-OT): Ambassador of China, H. E. Sun Weidong called on Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House this morning.

The Prime Minister welcomed H. E. Mr. Sun Weidong on his appointment as Ambassador of the Peoples’ Republic of China to Pakistan.

While talking to the Ambassador, the Prime Minister said that friendship with China is and will remain the corner stone of Pakistan’s foreign policy and it has been a factor of peace and stability in the region.

The Prime Minister conveyed his deepest condolences to the Chinese government, Chinese people and the effected families of the victims who recently died in a terrorist attack in Gilgit. The perpetrators would be brought to justice, he affirmed.

The Prime Minister said that he was looking forward to his visit to China in the first week of July and the visit would help further strengthen the bilateral ties.

The Prime Minister said that Gwadar Port Project is the hallmark of Pak-China strategic partnership and it will bring economic dividends for both Pakistan and China.

The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction that both the countries’ shared vision of establishment of Long term Economic Corridor is moving forward. The Prime Minister said that he had established a high level task force headed by a Federal Minister to explore avenues to enhance economic cooperation with China.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan is committed to take Pakistan’s relations with China to an even higher level and it greatly values China’s economic support and cooperation.
