Civil society’s role key for revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act from IHK

Srinagar, June 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): Senior Indian track-II diplomat and Chairman of Centre for Peace and Progress, O.P Shah has said that the civil society has an important role in pressing for revocation of draconian law, Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), from occupied Kashmir.O.P Shah in a media interview in Srinagar said that the civil society should take up with the Indian government the issue of revocation of AFSPA as it had an important role to play.

He said that Pakistan and India were taking positive steps to mend relations and the civil society had a vital role to play in smoothening relations between the two countries. He expressed satisfaction over the steps being taken by both India and Pakistan for improving their ties.
