Clarification about media report regarding pendency of cases in Courts

Islamabad, March 31, 2018 (PPI-OT): Reference publication regarding pendency of cases in Courts of Pakistan by bbcurdu.com Islamabad on 23 March 2018 and interview referred to Dr. Muhammad Raheem Awan, Secretary, Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan. It is clarified that the Secretary, Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan have never been interviewed by any local press representative or electronic media or any media house members.

The publication referred in bbcurdu.com needs clarification as Secretary, Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan being Secretary, National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee (NJPMC) have narrated regarding judge case ratio and timeline for disposal of cases and cause of pendency due to different reasons the judges are working in hard environment and there are some other cogent reasons for accumulation of backlog and due to acute shortage of judges at different level it is difficult for clearance of backlog and disposal of cases.

Moreover, in neighbouring countries; there are sufficient number of judges to settle adjudication and it is needed that justice sector in Pakistan shall also be strengthened for administration of justice at gross root level by increase in number of judges, strengthen justice sector stake holders.
