Committee to examine police funds demanded, Korangi Association of Trade and Industry underscores need for judicious allocations

Karachi, June 16, 2015 (PPI-OT): Chairman, Law and Order Standing Committee of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI), Nadeem Khan has emphasized the need of examining the expenditure made from the allocation of funds for police in Sindh budget in last few years.

Commenting on Rangers DG Major General Bilal Akbar statement in which he has claimed to have estimated more than Rs 230 billion being generated annually from Karachi through extortion, smuggling of diesel, water supply and land grabbing and part of the huge amount was used for terrorism, he said annually hue amount is been allocated in Sindh budget for police and still they neither have proper arms and equipments to tackle crimes.

He noted that the Sindh government has allocated Rs 61.42 billion for police and meagre amount Rs 2.43 billion for rangers the budget 2015-16 year. He suggested that committee should be form comprising of representations of business community and others to examine the budget allocations of least few years for police in Sindh and where this amount was utilized.

He prays the services of rangers and said business community representative must be invited in all meeting herald from time to time on law and orders. Nadeem Khan further demanded prompt action against land grabbers, extortionists, water mafia etc.

He said action must be initiated against all irrespective how powerful he may be if involved in criminal activities including businessmen. He said neither FPCCI, KCCI, KATI nor any other trade body support any businessmen found involve in criminal activities and land grabbing. The chairman said law and order situation has improved considerably after targeted operation against criminals by rangers and police.

He expressed that crime rate will reduce considerable if ongoing joint operation of rangers and police against extortion mafia, target killers and street crime carried out in all parts of the city. He said that land grabbers are still active in the city although the ranger are making their best efforts against them.
