Karachi, April 29, 2016 (PPI-OT):Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that the computerization of land Revenue record would prove to be a great gift of his government for the people of Sindh. “I had started it as a great service to the people of my province and I am sure they would remember me for preserving their ‘record of rights’ for them and their future generations.”
He gave these remarks while presiding over a meeting on Computerisation of Revenue Record, issues and problems here at the CM House today. The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Siddique Memon, Principal Secretary to CM Alamuddin Bullo, Senior Member Board of Revenue (BoR) Rizwan Memon and Member BoR Zulfikar Shah here at the CM House yesterday evening.
Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that he had approved the project of computerization of Land Record on December 12, 2011 at a cost of Rs4.9 billion. Why it has not been completed so far and what are the problems? he asked. Senior Member Board of Revenue (BoR) Rizwan Memon said that the project has been completed in a record period of four and a half years. The Punjab government has done a similar work of computerization of land Record in nine and a half years.
Chief Secretary Siddique Memon said that in Punjab there are 36 districts while Sindh province has 29 districts. The computerization work of Punjab was done with the assistance of the World Bank while Sindh has done it on its own resources. “In this way Sindh BoR has done a wonderful job and there are some teething problems which would be addressed properly.
Member BoR Zulfiqar Shah talking about features and efficiency of the project said that Sindh government has established centralized computerized system under which a land owner can get copy of his record from any service centre anywhere in Sindh, while in the Punjab record can only be obtained from the concerned tahsil center.
He said that the project has been completed; only eight to 10 percent entries are yet to be digitalized. He added that 3016 copies of the record have been issued so far in 24 districts against which only 25 complaints of `unfound record’ were received. Mr Zulfiqar Shah said that he was working hard to make the computerized system perfect by removing the mistakes and tracing the missing record.
Zulfiqar Shah said that in the light of the directives of the Supreme Court of Pakistan he has started verifying the digitalized record with the record preserved through microfilming. “This comparison and verification would remove whatever mistakes or inaccuracies are left in computerized work.” he said.
The chief minister said that he was sure that the computerization of revenue record would be his great achievement and service to the people of Sindh. “I want you to follow the Supreme Court directives and make the record free of mistakes. This is my commitment with the leadership and with the people of the province,” he said.
