Construction sector considered to be one of major sources of economic growth: Sohail Lashari

Lahore, February 27, 2014 (PPI-OT): Construction sector and construction activities are considered to be one of the major sources of economic growth, development and economic activities. Construction and engineering services industry play an important role in the economic uplift and development of the country.

These views were expressed by LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari during a visit to Build Pakistan exhibition here at Expo Centre on Thursday. Salim Tanoli, the CEO FAKT was also present on the occasion.

He said that building and construction exhibition Build Pakistan would go a long way in promoting the immense potential of Building and Construction Industry in Pakistan.

He said that there was no denying the fact that the construction activities are a mechanism of generating the employment and offering job opportunities to millions of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled work force. It also plays key role in generating income in both formal and informal sector. It supplements the foreign exchange earnings derived from trade in construction material and engineering services.

The LCCI President said that the exhibitions were a proven tool to promote economic activities and attract foreign investment besides highlighting the soft image of the country. Engineer Sohail Lashari said that it was a happy sign that a number of large companies, both from Pakistan and abroad were taking part in this mega event that had proved a big success.

The LCCI President said that the display of the latest Technological Advancements of Equipments, Materials, Services and Techniques in the related fields will help provide an opportunity to the exhibitors to interact with the industry leaders, entrepreneurs, governmental bodies and foreign delegates allowing them better networking opportunities for joint ventures and transfer of technologies.

Engineer Sohail Lashri expressed the optimism that Build Pakistan would not only give a boost to the local industrial sector but would also help local builders learn much from their international counterparts.

He said that the building and the construction industry has a continual need to evolve therefore the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry would continue to support such drivers of the economy.

The LCCI President also appreciated the hosts for bringing the experts and leading companies from ten countries including India, Iran, Italy, UAE and UK under one roof and giving them an opportunity to avail each others strengths.
