Construction work of bridge near Thaddo Nullah Malir Cantt in final stage

Karachi, February 03, 2014 (PPI-OT): Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui has said that construction of bridge with a cost of Rs120million near Thaddo Nullah Malir Cantt was in final stage which after its completion would facilitate citizens with another alternative route for going towards Superhighway from Jinnah Avenue.

He said this while taking briefing from Director General Engineering Niaz Ahmed Soomro about the bridge who along with relevant officers visited bridge being constructed on Thaddo Nullah.

Administrator Karachi said that construction works of bridges, flyovers and underpasses should be completed speedily and no negligence should be done in this regard as these development projects directly associated with citizens.

On this occasion Director General Niaz Ahmed Soomro informed that there had been causeway on Thaddo Nullah which had been inundated with water in rainy days due to which citizens used to face difficulties and could not use this route.

He informed that bridge was now being constructed here and it has been considered in the design that towers would not have to be broken which were built to check drinking water from Dumloti before the establishment of Pakistan.

He also informed that the bridge has 375meter length and 110meter structure. 145meter and 120meter ramps have been constructed and 11 spans were kept and stipulation time of its completion was one year. Administrator Karachi expressed hope that construction of this bridge would be completed on time.

He said that excellent quality material should be used in construction of the bridge so that this would prove stable. The bridge after its completion would facilitate citizens going to Superhighway from Jinnah Avenue.

He also directed that construction works of flyovers on Malir Cant, Malir-15 should be expedited and four flyovers being constructed on Shahrah-e-Pakistan should be completed by the end of this month.
