Convocation ceremony held at Bilquis college of Education for women, Pakistan Air Force Base Nur Khan

Islamabad, May 01, 2013 (PPI-OT): The Convocation Ceremony of M.A English, M.A Education, M.Ed, B.A, B.Sc and B.Ed Courses was held at Bilquis College of Education for Women, PAF Base, Nur Khan. Professor Dr. Muhammad Masoom Yasinzai, Vice Chancellor, Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad was the Chief Guest on the occasion, while Air Commodore (Retd) Dr. Ijaz Ahmad Malik, Vice Chancellor Air University, Islamabad presided over the ceremony. Begum Shehla Tahir, President Pakistan Air Force Women Association (PAFWA) was also present on the occasion.

The Chief Guest awarded trophy, medals and certificates to the position holders in various disciplines. “Quaid-e-Azam Trophy” for being the best student of the year was won by Miss Jamila Naseer of B.Ed Course.

While addressing the graduating students, Professor Dr. Muhammad Masoom Yasinzai, Vice Chancellor Quaid-e-Azam University said, “Education is growth, education is not the preparation for life; Education is life itself. So, education gives you the power to think clearly, the power to act well and the power to appreciate life. It helps you to differentiate between what you do know and what you don’t and to meet new ideas with curiosity and fascination.”

The Chief Guest further said, “It is a matter of concern that lack of education has hampered the steady progress of our nation. Today Pakistan is faced with the problem of illiteracy coupled with over population which has added dimensions to our national responsibilities.

It is a proven fact that the developed counties of the world became economically prosperous only after they invested in education”. Air Commodore (Retd) Dr. Ijaz Ahmad Malik, Vice Chancellor Air University conferred the degrees to 33 students of M.A English, 65 students of M.Ed, 42 students of M.A. Education, , 545 students of B.Ed, 31 students of B.A and 44 students of B.Sc Courses. Earlier, Mrs Kaukab Ara Nasir, Principal Bilquis College of Education for Women presented the annual report of the college.

The college was established in 1984. Bilquis College of Education for Women is not only the top ranking education college in the country but it is also one of the prestigious educational institutions of Pakistan Air Force. Besides, M.A English, M.A Education, M.Ed, B.Ed, B.A and B.Sc courses, the college also offers Diploma in Montessori and Computer Sciences.
