Islamabad: Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Senior Federal Minister for Industries received a detailed briefing from the Ministry of Industries and Utility Stores Corporation (USC) of Pakistan regarding the Ramzan Package. President Pakistan Muslim League Senator Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Advisor to Prime Minister on Industries Raja Basharat also attended the briefing.
Mr. Elahi directed the officials of the Ministry and USC to extend subsidy on maximum items of basic necessity so that the low income people can be given relief in the Holy month of Ramazan. He said the demand for essential commodities like Wheat Flour, Sugar, Pulses, Baisan, Dates (Khajoor), Tea, Squashes, Syrups (Sharbat) and Milk generally increases during the Holy Month of Ramzan each year but the Ramzan Relief Package will provide not only the much needed economic relief to the consumers, but at the same time it will help to stabilize prices in open market.
The Senior Minister directed the USC management to make sure that during Ramazan its stores stay open for shopping for extended hours so that the more and more people may reap the benefits of the Ramzan Package. He said that to see the preparedness of the USC he will soon meet the zonal managers of USC and will not tolerate any negligence in efficiently conducting the operations during Ramazan.
He said that to ensure that the price list issued by the USC headquarters is strictly adhered to by all the utility stores in the country, strict vigilance will be carried out. He said that he himself will hold regular meetings with the officials of USC and Ministry of Industries to oversee the smooth dispensation of Ramzan Package.
