Islamabad, January 31, 2014 (PPI-OT): A spokesman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), said that the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) has achieved some important milestones in last week. One of the most important is finalization of successful outsourcing of municipal tax on account of Fascia Signboards for Rs 90 Million. Successful bidders have already deposited 25% of the bid amount as the first quarterly installment. In this way CDA has fetched nine (09) times the revenue as compared to last year from this source.
He further said that a substantial amount of long outstanding dues on account of advertisement charges have been recovered during last week. This recovery includes dues of new auction as well as old advertisement sites. In addition, rigorous efforts are being made to get all legal restraints aside, so that all long-term advertisements be disposed off according to revised rates and as per competitive bidding process. In this regard DMA has won 25 cases from courts in its favour. In this regard 13 sites are being auctioned after 15 days.
Spokesman further said that Fair Price Shops and NOC’s for Base Transceivers Station (BTS) Towers is another integral part of the Project Management Unit of the Encroachment and Coordination (E and C) Section. Rs 10 Million have also been recovered on account of BTS Towers in Islamabad. Notices have been served to all shops in violation of the permissible use as well as recoveries against outstanding dues has been expedited. All shops in F-10 flower market have been cancelled and now CDA plans to auction it out through open bidding and transparent bidding.
In addition, operation against illegal advertisement activities has also been launched all over Islamabad. In this pursuit, a joint operation with District Administration was carried out in “Tarlai” area of Islamabad. 15 large billboards as well as 37 signboards were removed on the park road, he added.
