Directorate of Science, Technology developmental playing vital role in promoting Science: Minister

Peshawar, February 26, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for ST and IT, Shahram Khan Tarakai has highly appreciated the DF and TC activities such as Engineering and Design Projects, ST Internship Program, free Trainings.

He has ensured to continue such productive activities that are bringing a positive change in KP’s youth development. He expressed these views while addressing certificates distribution ceremony among 1000 trainees students under Directorate of Science and Technology (DoST) developmental scheme “Establishment of Design Facilitation and Training Center in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (DF and TC)” on Wednesday at “Nishtar Hall Peshawar”.

Shahram Khan Tarakai awarded certificates to the top trainees. IT Minister said that the government would establish IT University and cottage industry in the province. He asked the federal government to take Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on board regarding steps taken by it about law and order situation.

He said the federal government should behave justly with all the provinces of the country. Free trainings in various fields like Advance Construction Drawings (2D and 3D), Electrical Drafting with AutoCAD, UPS Assembling/Repair Course, PLC Programming, SCADA Programming, Mobile Repairing, Advance CAD Techniques (2D and 3D) with AutoCAD, PCB Designing with Proteus/AutoCAD/Eagle CAD, Practical Training on Digital Electronics, RCC Designing with SAP were provided by *DoST *under DF and TC in collaboration with NIDA Peshawar. At the event Chief Guest appreciated free trainings to 1361 students/ individuals, 03 months Paid Internship for fresh graduated students of Science and Technology in their respective field of interest.

Students had been provided internships in different organizations such as NESPAK, National Telecommunication Corporation NTC, PTCL, SNGPL, Dimension Stones, PCSIR, PHYDO, Telephone Industries of Pakistan etc, “30 KVA Kaplan Turbine based Micro Hydro Power Plant” Project which is the first of its type Micro-Hydro Power Plant and its operational at Tablighee Markaz Mardan providing electricity from a canal, “50 KVA Pelton Turbine installed at village of Birzeen-Garamchashma in District Chitral” which fulfils the electricity needs of the local community, “1 KVA Photo voltaic system was also developed for rural areas”, “Design and fabrication of speed breaker for electricity generation” was developed that is used to provide energy to road lights, “Development and analysis of sun seeker for solar dish”, is a project of DF and TC that is committed to develop new generation solar and hybrid technologies for sustainable development, “Smart Auto Start System” is remarkable achievement of DF and TC aimed to provide increased car security against theft and unauthorized access using smart phone application, “An Experimental Investigation into the Coal-Briquettes Design and Manufacturing for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Coal” project was completed with the collaboration of DF and TC.

It modifies the existing design parameters of Coal-Briquettes for further improvement in high calorific value, tensile strength (for easy transportation and handling) and improved combustion performance for small and medium size industries, “Up Gradation Of The Existing Traffic Light System To Wireless Controlled Auto/Manual Traffic Light System” that uses wireless technology in the existing Traffic Lights, to control the Traffic Signals on the basis of traffic density and not by predefined time, reducing the travel time.

Under the same project in collaboration with National Institute of Design and Analysis (NIDA), Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC), PCSIR, Precision Systems Training Center (PSTC), and other with different organization DF and TC have crossed the milestone of 0ne thousands and in total 1361 individuals from all over province (KP) got free trainings in various trades of engineering and technologies.

DF and TC has also provided provincial support to for the strengthening of existing Gems and Cutting Polishing Center at Garamchashma under which 31 female and 01 male students have successfully completed training. Same CFC has also developed linkages with Rupani Foundation (RF) based in Gilgit and also agreed to extend support for capacity building of MTs (woman) through extensive training in Gilgit and to develop linkages with markets.

Secretary ST and IT Mr. Zafar Iqbal, Additional Secretary ST and IT Mian Saad Uddin, Director ST Dr. Javed Abbas Bangash, CEO TUSDEC Basit Maqsood Abbasi, Deputy Director-DF and TC Engr.
