Doctor on duty declares son brought dead in IOK

Srinagar, June 30, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, when Faizan Ahmed Poswal, 15, sustained bullet injuries in the firing of Indian troops on protesters in Chatpora area of Pulwama on Friday, he was rushed to District Hospital Pulwama but was declared brought dead by none other than his father, Dr Abdul Ghani Poswal, a medical officer at the hospital.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Dr Abdul Ghani Khan was busy at work in District Hospital, Pulwama, tending to the injured who were being brought continuously from Chatpora area of the town where intense clashes were going on between protesters and the Indian forces. Suddenly, among the injured, he saw his son. He tried hard but it was all over leaving him no option but to declare him dead. He wrapped the body in white cloth and broke down.

The Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Dr Abdul Rasheed Parra, said that Dr Ghani’s son, Faizan Ahmed Khan, a class 10 student, was brought dead to the hospital. “Faizan’s father and our colleague, Dr Abdul Ghani, was busy in his professional duties when Faizan was brought to the hospital,” Dr Parra said.

Later, Faizan’s body was taken to his native village, Gosainad Ladhoo in Pampore, late in the evening. Thousands of people from dozens of villages of Pampore had assembled to take part in his funereal prayers, despite the heavy rain falling since last night. People in Ladhoo village who attended the funeral prayers described Faizan as “a silent boy” with a “rebellious nature”. Uncle of Faizan, Muhammad Yasin Khan said that he heard about the killing of Faizan in Srinagar. “It was a shock for me and all other family members,” he said.
