Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Dr. Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen concluded on Saturday his visit to Russia, where he held several meetings with Russian officials and discussed with them issues of concern to the Islamic world.
Al-Othaimeen met with Head of Russian Council of Muftis Sheikh Rawi Ainuddin, who briefed him on the situation of Muslims throughout the country and means of coexistence enjoyed by Russian society among all religions.
Sheikh Ainuddin welcomed the visit of the OIC Secretary General to Moscow, saying that it would contribute to further strengthening the bilateral relations between the OIC and Russia. He also noted the OIC role and efforts around the world.
For his part, Al-Othaimeen said that the OIC always emphasizes the role of Muslims in serving their countries and working for their welfare and advancement. He also stressed that terrorism is rejected by all religions and that everyone should strive to fight and discard it.
The Secretary General further affirmed that the OIC is ready to prepare a variety of programs within the Russian society to raise awareness about the message of tolerance and of the moderation promoted by Islam, which rejects extremism and violence whatever their source.
