Finance Minister meets Iranian Finance Minister

Islamabad, April 11, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Finance Minister in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Ali Tayyeb Nia, at Washington DC, discussed the time frame of the Joint Economic Commission that is scheduled in the next quarter. The two sides will discuss about 50 agenda items at the upcoming JEC meeting and implementation of the outstanding agenda items by both sides will result in strengthening of economic ties between the two countries and bilateral trade.

Finance Minister Dar reiterated to his Iranian counterpart to utilize scholarships extended to the Iranian students under the technical assistance program. The Iranian Finance Minister appreciated the offer and assured Minister Dar of its utilization.

The two sides agreed that the JEC provides an ideal platform to enhance economic cooperation. They also discussed increased trade within the ambit of UN sanctions.
