Flag hoisting ceremony held in Singapore on Pakistan’s Independence Day

Singapore, August 14, 2014 (PPI-OT): 68th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated with due exuberance, national spirit and fervor at the Embassy Residence here on Thursday, 14th August 2014.

Members of Pakistan community and families of High Commission’s staff attended the flag hoisting ceremony at the Embassy Residence. Independence Day messages of the President and the Prime Minister were read out on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Tanveer Akhtar Khaskheli, High Commissioner of Pakistan in Singapore, highlighted current business environment in the country and investment opportunities in Pakistan. The High Commissioner mentioned that Pakistan’s economy is showing an upward trend.

The High Commissioner also highlighted Pakistan’s contribution in the war against terrorism. He also apprised the audience with the achievements of Pakistan Armed Forces in their operation against terrorists in North Waziristan Agency.

The High Commissioner complimented the contributions of the Pakistani community to help project Pakistan in Singapore. Daily The Straits Times of Singapore published a Special Supplement on the occasion of Pakistan Independence Day. The Supplement carried an interview of the High Commissioner of Pakistan.
