Funeral in absentia of Nizami held in Srinagar

Srinagar, July 27, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, thousands of people attended funeral prayers in absentia of veteran journalist and Chairman Nawa-i-Waqt Group of Publications, Majid Nizami, at Lal Chowk in Srinagar, today. The funeral prayers among others were attended by JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik.

Later, talking to media person, Mohammad Yasin Malik paid rich tributes to the veteran journalist, writer, owner and Chief Editor of Nawa-i-Waqt Group. Describing Nizami as an ideologue, human rights advocate and a selfless supporter of the Kashmir cause he said that his demise was a great loss for the media world.

The JKLF Chairman said that the sad demise of veteran journalist and humanist Majeed Nizami was a personal loss for him as from last many years he used to meet him whenever he visited Pakistan and found his stance vis-a-vis Kashmir unshakeable.

He said that his writings, books and speeches were a glaring example of his eternal love for Kashmir and Kashmiris. He said that Nizami always represented voice of Kashmiris through his writings and highlighted the sufferings of Kashmiris before the international community.
