General Electric Company Vice Chairman meets Finance Minister

Islamabad, January 10, 2013 (PPI-OT): Mr. John Rice, Vice Chairman, General Electric Company accompanied by his delegation called on Federal Minister for Finance, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh here today.

The Finance Minister informed the visiting delegation that conditions in Pakistan are quite conducive for foreign investment and invited General Electric Company to invest in Pakistan, particularly in sectors where it has global expertise like aviation, transport, Railways, energy and alternate energy. The Finance Minister assured full support and facilitation of the government for investment by General Electric Company in Pakistan.

The Vice Chairman General Electric Company expressed his profound gratitude for Government of Pakistan and particularly Finance Minister for providing attractive opportunities for foreign investment in the country. He thanked Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh for his continuous support for private sector business and attracting investment by guiding foreign investors.

Mr. Rice appreciated the policies of the Finance Ministry in promoting a business friendly environment. He expressed keen interest by General Electric Company for investment in various sectors in Pakistan, particularly in supplying locomotives for Pakistan Railway and setting up a wind energy project while exploring other investment areas as well.
