Karachi, June 04, 2018 (PPI-OT): President of Arts Council Pakistan Karachi Muhammad Ahmed Shah said that Qawwali is one of the ancient and sacred genre of art which is now being thrived through our young artists. He shared his thoughtful rendition on the momentous occasion of annual qawwali night which held at Arts Council on the 2nd June 2018. He said that qawwali relies on purity and goodness and if the purity is diminished, the genre won’t be the same. Sharing his views, he further said that nowadays, many fame hungry artist wants to get recognized swiftly while having a miniscule dedication and care about their work. He further admired the young artist Hamza Akram saying that his works are connecting the youth with this classical genre. He also advised him to improve his work as he is a bright forthcoming for qawwali.
Belonging to the household which had been serving the genre of qawwali for centuries, talented young artist Hamza Akram said that he is grateful to be here tonight at Arts Council that is a historical institution where my grandfather Munshi Raziuddian Qawwal had been performing in the past. He further expressed gratitude towards the gathered audience. Later he mesmerized the audience with his soulful performance while presenting the Naat, Manqabats and marvellous notes including “Man Kuntu Maula” and “Tajdar-e-Haram” which warmed the very core of everyone’s heart who was present on the occasion. Hamza Akram had been performing on international stages as well and had performed in the major countries like USA and England.
