Rawalpindi, August 21, 2018 (PPI-OT): Freedom is a gift and a cherished privilege to a nation. Pakistan’s Independence Day is celebrated on 14th August nationwide with fervour and passion to commemorate the sacrifices of our forefathers and their struggle for an independent state for the Muslims. National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) celebrated the Independence Day on 13th August 2018 with full zeal and zest at NUMS Secretariat to express the feelings of unity with the nation.
The costuming theme of the day was White and Green dress representing the colours of the Pakistani flag that symbolize the country’s commitment to Islam and the rights of religious minorities. The program started with the arrival of Worthy Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Syed Muhammad Imran Majeed HI (M) and recitation of the verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the National Anthem.
On this occasion, Vice Chancellor NUMS shared his valuable thoughts with the participants and highlighted the importance of freedom and Independence Day for the nation. “This country will progress when Pakistan’s Institutions will be strengthened and ultimately, help in image building of the country”, he elaborated. In his closing remarks, he emphasized that youth can play an important role in the progress and development of Pakistan. The cake cutting ceremony was also held by the worthy Vice Chancellor.
Ms. Mehreen Ishtiaq and Ms. Hina Riaz from Quality Assurance team narrated a few verses of the poetry of Sir Allama Muhammad Iqbal to encourage NUMS’ young team and shared the expectations of Sir Allama Muhammad Iqbal from the young generation. A chorus group under the supervision of Dr. Noreen Mirza, Additional Director Academics also presented a melodious song that stimulated everyone’s feelings towards the motherland.
Director RD, Shaikh Muhammad Ali presented a short presentation alongwith the Quaid’s Speech (his historical address to the students). The members of the senior management presented some patriotic songs in their sonorous and musical voice. The patriotic songs provoked a sense of responsibility and feelings of love and patriotism for the motherland.
NUMS’ Senior Management also addressed the young team and asserted that they are the future of Pakistan and it is their sole responsibility to lead the country and contribute towards the development and prosperity of this sacred land. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks to all the participants by Ms. Noor Amna Malik, Director QA.
