Karachi, September 23, 2018 (PPI-OT): The DMC central without the support of the government for the first time will produce one lac gallon per day for trees in district central in the first week of next month (October) through sewerage water filter plant. This was disclosed to media on Sunday by the DMC central Chairman Rehan Hashmi while examining the operation of sewerage water filter plant at Fateh Bagh in North Nazimabad.
Apprising the media he said in 2016 it was felt that there was an acute water shortage in Karachi so sewerage water be turned for the trees so that greenery be maintained without wasting drinking water. Chairman said basic objective was to make district Karachi central green and fight pollution and to give people a healthy life and green parks.
The browsers water tankers have been specially designed for the purpose. Chairman said we are saving millions of gallons drinking water per day by this process Hashmi said three layer tank along with Filter plant was established and this plant was producing 20,000 gallons per day these days. Water only for plant through sewerage water.
He further said this plant at Fateh Bagh was being modernized with the help of an NGO, and some retired army generals. He said once this plant gets operational than one lac gallons sewerage water filtered will be produced for giving water to trees. Hashmi said no cost was given by DMC central nor the government.
He said a parallel issue erupted due to the heaps of garbage than from Tinhatti to Sohrab Goth garbage lifting was streamlined and now garbage lifting is done regularly. Replying to a question he said so far DMC central is the only district which was saving drinking water and expanding greenery in district central. We hope that we would be able to make our area green and contain pollution to some extent, he added.
