Samad Inqilabi on hunger strike in Sumabal police station

Srinagar, January 10, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi has said that its illegally detained Chairman Abdul Samad Inqilabi, who was shifted from Srinagar central jail to Sumbal Sonawari police station, yesterday, is on hunger strike as a protest.

A party spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Indian police had arrested Abdul Samad Inqilabi from Dorgripora, Pulwama, and shifted him to Hajin police station. He said authorities wanted to shift him to a jail in India. He said Abdul Samad Inqilabi was attacked in the Hajin police station which should first be probed.

The spokesman said the SHO of Sumbal police station and the DSP of Sumbal have threatened the party chairman that he would be murdered in or outside the jail. He said Samad Inqilabi has filed an appeal against the torture by Hajin police officers with the international human rights organization, Amnesty International, and now he is being victimized to force him to withdraw the case. He said on refusal to withdraw the case, the party chairman is being tortured.
