Peshawar, March 20, 2019 (PPI-OT): A 23-member under trainee delegation of Kashmir Institute of Management attended a briefing on policing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at CPO Peshawar on Tuesday. Brigadier (R) Akhtar Hussain Shah led the delegation. The delegation is now-a-day on country wide study tour in connection with its professional course.
The delegation was briefed by DIG Headquarters Dr. Muhammad Abid in detail with the help of charts about policing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They were informed about the organizational structure, functioning and activities, management practices, major achievements and challenges for the organization and its future plans. The delegation was also told about the police performance against criminals, militants, working condition and confronting challenges.
The members of the delegation were also briefed on the institutional reforms i.e. establishment of Counter Terrorism Department, Rapid Response Force, K-9 Unit, BD Units at each Regional level, Geo Tagging, enactment of various laws, DRCs, PAL, PAS and Specialized Schools. They were also told about Police Act 2017, its implementation, better service delivery to the public and enhanced capacity of the force. The delegation was also informed about the militancy in the province and the steps taken by police to halt menace of terrorism.
In light of detailed briefing, the members of delegation asked various questions about policing challenges in FATA, Research Analysis Wing, Police Technical Capacity Building, apolitical policing and investigation wings which were answered.
The members of the delegation appreciated the performance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police especially against terrorists on the face of voluminous challenges and limited resources as well as police reforms. The IGP informed the participants that before his taking over as Provincial Police Officer KP he was Inspector General Azad Kashmir and revealed that both the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir are sharing the same qualities of love and respect.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police training institutions are open to all who want to further enhance capabilities in the field of training. The member of delegation thanked the IGP and his team for detailed briefing. Additional IGP Headquarters Amjad Khan, DIG Headquarters Muhammad Abid and DIG Shehzad Ahmad Saddiqi were also present.
