Sindh Government should provide for the Development and Rehabilitation expenditure to the tune of Rs 50 to 80 lacs per month: Hashmi
Karachi, May 08, 2019 (PPI-OT): The DMC Central Chairman Rehan Hashmi has demanded from Sindh Government to provide the Development and Rehabilitation expenditures Rs 50 to 80 lacs per month essentially. He said this while talking to media at his office on Tuesday. Hashmi said visible expenditures was Rs 28 crores per month as due share arrears were not paid by Sindh Government Rs 3 to five crores per month and this share shoots to Rs 32 crores per month.
Chairman said Sindh Government pays Rs 23 plus two crores per month and in it the deficit amounts reaches to seven to eight crores per month. He claimed that Sindh Government was not providing due share of OctroiZila Tax (OZT) and if it pays with full justification than we could make a break even and various problems could be resolved on our own.
Hashmi said under the head of OZT there is a deficit of Rs seven to eight crores monthly approximately and OZT he claimed was not being as per population ratio as well as resources. The government was using the population from the record of 50 years back now the population here has multiplied along with Katcheeabadees /
Hashmi claimed that this was a great human rights violation as OZT share is purely used for the population of district central.
GARBAGE AND SEWERAGE ARE THE BIGGEST BURDEN ON DISTRICT CENTRAL
Hashmi said Rs 3.5 to Rs 4.5 crores are spent monthly on garbage lifting besides other development expenses amounts to Rs 22 crores 50 lacs.
Hashmi said 35 percent population of district Karachi central was deprived of drinking water said as per specified quota 100 mgd water be supplied but we are provided 55 mgd and 40 percent of water is taken away by water thieves.
The water is stolen from various parts of the city and valve men theft was also biggest issue. He said ramazan has started and we are facing serious water crisis.
He said sewerage lines repair and maintenance is also being done by DMC central though it was not the job of DMC Central and due to this we are unable to maintain our roads.
When asked about the recovery of DMC central he said his staff was working very efficiently but the mafia was creating hurdles in the recovery which was a loss to the national exchequer.
CIONTINGENCY PLAN CONSTITUTED FOR CLEANLINESS AND LIFTING OF GRABAGE DURING RAMAZAN
Hashmi said DMC Central has launched a cleanliness campaign during Ramazan and heat stroke campaign has been continued.
The garbage lifting around and adjacent the mosques and said citizens have complained of stray dogs but DMC has no vaccines of Rabbies and we have sought help of NGOs but this issue serious for the citizens particularly at Fajar prayers. He expressed serious concern over the stray dogs
