WHO: About 4,000 people killed or wounded in Tripoli clashes

Tripoli The World Health Organization (WHO) reported Monday that the ongoing conflict in and around Libya's capital Tripoli since April 4 has led to 607 deaths and 3,261 wounded.

The WHO said in a statement that more than 93,000 people have left their homes in the Libyan capital because of the ongoing hostilities on the outskirts of the city.

Deputy Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General Farhan Haq said Monday in a statement that according to reports of the humanitarian agencies, the number of people who have fled their homes due to the current fighting in Tripoli exceeded 93,000 individuals. He added that more than 9,000 people, half of them children, have been recorded as internally displaced persons this week.
