Srinagar, June 11, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their unabated act of state terrorism, martyred two more Kashmiri youth in Shopian district, today.

The youth were killed during a joint cordon and search operation launched by the Indian Army’s Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and Special Operation Group in Awneera area of the district. The martyrs were identified as Shakir Ahmed and Sayaar Ahmed who were residents of Awneera and Mochoo areas of Shopian and Kulgam districts. Two houses were also destroyed in the operation.

Meanwhile, thousands of people thronged native villages of martyrs Shakir and Sayaar to participate in their funeral prayers. Multiple rounds of funerals were held in Awneera and Mochoo in Shopian and Kulgam districts to accommodate huge rush of people. The occupation authorities suspended all Internet services in the two districts.

The Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, paid rich tributes to the Shopian martyrs. He said that people of Kashmir were duty-bound to safeguard the precious sacrifices rendered by the Kashmiri martyrs.

The High Court Bar Association in a statement issued after a meeting in Srinagar expressed its dissatisfaction over the sentence passed by a Pathankot court against the culprits involved in kidnapping, drugging, gang-raping and killing of an eight-year-old Muslim girl, Aasifa, by Hindu communalists in Kathua area of Jammu, last year. The Bar Association said the three culprits, at least, deserved a death penalty for having committed the dastardly act, while the court awarded them lenient punishment of life imprisonment for no obvious reason.

The mother of the victim minor girl in a media interview while expressing disappointment over the verdict said that justice would have been done if the culprits had been sentenced to death. On the other hand, a delegation of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir led by Rafiq Owasi participated in a function held to commemorate the 9th martyrdom anniversary of martyr, Tufail Matoo at Eid Gah in Srinagar. Another delegation comprising Zahoor-ul-Haq Gilani and Bashir Qureshi visited the residence of Tufail Mattoo and expressed solidarity with his family members. 17-year-old Tufail Mattoo was killed on this day in 2010 when he was hit by a teargas shell fired by police while he was returning home from tuitions. The killing sparked the 2010 public uprising across the occupied territory.
