Srinagar, June 16, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership while denouncing the Indian media’s propaganda against the Kashmiri people has said that the residents of the territory never compromised on their tradition of hospitality even in the toughest and trying times.
In the backdrop of Amarnath Yatra, the JRL in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, said the warm hospitality of the Kashmiri people is a globally acknowledged fact, and they will continue to adhere to the tradition. The JRL said fake news, twisting of facts and projecting villainous pictures of Kashmiris have been the modus operandi of these news channels. The JRL invited the people of India to come to Kashmir and see for themselves the ultimate form of repression by tens of thousands of Indian forces in the territory. It assured the yatris and tourists to feel secure as there is no threat to their lives and that they can perform their rituals without any worry.
The Jammu and Kashmir National Front and Democratic Political Movement in their statements issued in Srinagar expressed concern over the inhuman treatment meted out to the illegally detained Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and activists in different jails.
Hurriyat leader, Mohammad Rafiq Ganie was arrested by Special Operation Group of Indian police from Magam area of Tangmarg and was shifted to infamous Cargo torture centre, Srinagar. The Indian authorities sanctioned prosecution against seven APHC activists in Hajin area of Bandipora district for staging protest against the detention of resistance leader, Masarrat Aalam Butt under draconian Public Safety Act in 2015.
Meanwhile, India’s National Investigation Agency being used to harass and intimidate Hurriyat leadership has summoned Muslim Khawateen Markaz Chairperson Yasmeen Raja to its New Delhi office for questioning in a fake case, tomorrow. APHC Chairman Syed Ali Gilani in a statement denounced the summons to Yasmeen Raja by NIA and arrest of Muhammad Rafiq Ganai by Indian police.
The NIA in a statement in New Delhi, today, said that Muhammad Yasin Malik was instrumental in bringing the APHC Chairman Syed Ali Gilani and Hurriyat forum Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq together to spearhead the 2016 uprising in occupied Kashmir.
An Indian journalist, Siddharth Varadarajan, in a statement said the non-deliverance of justice in 2000 Pathribal fake encounter case, reported by him, still pains him. He said the victims were not involved in any act of violence. He said he was working with Times of India those days and he got DNA reports from Hyderabad forensic laboratory, which was fudged by the authorities in the occupied territory.
