Srinagar, June 26, 2019 (PPI-OT):In occupied Kashmir, a five member delegation of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM) led by its Chairman, Mir Shahid Saleem, called on the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, at his Hyderpora residence in Srinagar.

The JKPM in a statement issued in Srinagar said that during the meeting Syed Ali Gilani told the delegation that India was using the worst tactics to harass the resistance leadership and crush the Kashmiris’ ongoing freedom struggle but would never succeed in its nefarious designs.

“We will not let sacrifices made by the people go waste. There can be no permanent peace in the region unless the Kashmir issue is resolved as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. We must remain united and steadfast in this hour of crisis,” the statement quoted the APHC Chairman as having said.

Mir Shahid Saleem apprised Syed Ali Gilani of the prevailing socio-political scenario of the Jammu region. He told the APHC Chairman that the Muslims of Jammu were living in an environment of harassment and intimidation as members of Hindu fundamentalist organisations like Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bajrang Dal were enjoying complete support and patronage of the state machinery.

He said that anti-Muslim forces and groups like so-called Village Defence Committees were being provided modern assault weaponry and arms training while the Muslim population was being pushed to the wall not only by the anti-Muslims forces but the occupation authorities as well.

The statement said that Syed Ali Gilani appreciated the role being played by the Muslims of Jammu in the ongoing freedom struggle and said that they had been making supreme sacrifices since 1947. He asked the Muslims of Jammu to forge a greater unity among their ranks to frustrate the nefarious designs of the communal forces in the region.
