Islamabad, July 01, 2019 (PPI-OT): Senate Functional Committee on Government Assurances in its meeting was told by the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs that the government is fully committed to bring the Constitutional Amendment regarding employment quota but has to be initiated by the Ministry of Law and Justice. The ministry of Law and Justice told the meeting that the matter has to be taken to CCLC again because there were some reservations regarding extending the quota after every few years.
The Committee observed that reservation on quota extension can be accepted only once all areas get equal opportunities of development and education. The Committee decided to hear the Minister of Law and Justice on the matter and decided to call another meeting the same week. The meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Senator Muhammad Tahir Khan Bizenjo here at the Parliament House on Monday.
Regarding the permission to the allottees of Sector G-14/3 to construct their houses, the Committee was told by Secretary Houses that 680 allottees have been given permission and some have already submitted their building plans. Other issues relating to development work and construction and built-up properties are also being expedited. The Committee asked the ministry to submit the permission letter issued to the Committee.
The Committee was also given a briefing on the disputes between CDA and Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation regarding the problems of G-14 housing project of Housing Foundation. The Committee was surprised to know that even after 15 years people don’t know the location of the plots they have bought and no development work has been carried out.
Seeing the divergent views taken up by both sides, Chairman Committee constituted a sub-committee with Senator Fida Muhammad as its convener and Senator Dt. Asad Ashraf and Abida Muhammad Azeem as members to investigate the issue and present report to the Committee. Regarding construction of double road between G-13 and G-14, the Committee was told that compliance of the assurance given by Ministry of Housing and Works has been made and construction work has been completed.
The Committee was told by Ministry of Interior regarding issuance of allotment letter/possession to the members of Federal Employees Cooperative Housing Society (FECHS) who have paid total amount in Jinnah Garden that the same will be done as early as the layout plans are approved. The Committee was told that under the joint venture of National Assembly’s housing society and Jinnah Garden, the former paid 43 crores for 1097 plots on 656 kanals of land but so far only 363 plots have been given possession and people are being made to wait despite payment. The Committee referred this matter to the same sub-committee constituted earlier.
