Srinagar, July 07, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown will be observed to commemorate the third martyrdom anniversary of popular Kashmiri youth leader, Burhan Muzaffar Wani, tomorrow. The shutdown is also aimed at paying tributes to Wani’s associates and other martyrs of 2016 mass uprising. Call for the strike has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership. Burhan Wani was martyred by Indian troops in a fake encounter in Kokernag area of Islamabad district on July 08, 2016.
Meanwhile, thousands of posters have surfaced in every nook and corner of the valley asking people to ‘March Towards Tral’, tomorrow. The posters carrying pictures of Burhan Wani have been published by ‘Warseen-e-Shuhada’. These posters have been displayed at all important places including highways and streets in Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Kulgam and Islamabad districts. The Indian authorities arrested two youth on the charge of pasting posters in Batamaloo area of Srinagar. They also snapped internet services in South Kashmir.
Senior APHC leader and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, while paying tributes to Burhan Wani and other martyrs said Burhan’s death infused a new spirit in the struggle for freedom. He said the people of Kashmir are committed to taking their movement to its logical conclusion. The APHC leader urged the international community to exert pressure on India not to violate fundamental and political rights of Kashmiri people.
Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party Chairman, Shabbir Ahmad Shah in a message from Delhi’s Tihar jail also remembered Burhan Wani. He said the charismatic leader exhibited political maturity at a young age and showed a way of resistance to the Kashmiri youth. Hurriyat leaders, Shabbir Ahmad Dar, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Imtiaz Ahmad Reshi, Ghulam Nabi War, Ghulam Nabi Waseem and Jammu and Kashmir Islami Tanzeem Azadi in their statements also eulogized the sacrifice of the Kashmir’s young martyred leader.
On the other hand, Indian police, today, once again arrested 75 years old senior Hurriyat leader, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori and lodged him at Sadar Police Station, Sopore. The aged Hurriyat leader is suffering from multiple ailments.
