JKLF to launch ‘free Yasin Malik’, ‘lift ban on JKLF’ campaign

Srinagar, July 11, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Acting Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Abdul Hameed Butt has said that party will launch ‘free Yasin Malik’ and ‘Lift ban on JKLF’ campaigns throughout the world.

Abdul Hameed Butt addressing party’s Supreme Council meeting in Srinagar said the detention of JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and ban on party are illegal and the international community should immediately intervene and impress upon India to release Yasin Malik and lift ban on the political organization.

He said the continued illegal detention of Muhammad Yasin Malik lodged in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail is totally unlawful, arbitrary and political victimization of a senior political leader. He said Indian rulers have been subjecting the people of Kashmir to the worst kind of aggression and oppression but in recent times the level of suppression has been raised to enormous heights.

Abdul Hameed Butt said, on one hand, the Indian rulers are employing undemocratic tactics to suppress the Kashmiris while on the other, are boasting about being the biggest democracy which is ridiculous. He said that it was JKLF and its chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, who on the appeal of the international community declared a unilateral ceasefire in 1994 and started a peaceful freedom movement.

He said ironically the international community has maintained a total silence on all these Indian acts in occupied Kashmir which in other words means a direct support to these illegal and undemocratic oppressive actions of India. He also expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health of illegally detained Hurriyat leader, Ayaz Akbar’s wife, who is suffering from cancer for the past few years. He appealed to the International Committee of Red Cross to intervene in this matter and play role in an early release of Ayaz Akbar presently lodged in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
