Islamabad, December 29, 2019 (PPI-OT): Work on removal of garbage dumps and cleanliness of the city remained continued on Friday night and over the weekend during the weekly holidays. Back log from significant area of the city has been cleared. Assistant Commissioners and magistrates deputed to supervise the cleanliness activity has imposed fines around Rs.50,000/- on the individuals, shopkeepers and other violators responsible for littering in the markets and dumping of garbage in the jungle areas and open spaces.
Work on collection of garbage and sweeping of the city remain suspended for around ten days, due to which city was presenting deserted picture. However, on Friday work resumed and in order to clear the back log and sweeping of the city, a coordinated effort of departments under the supervision of ICT Administration was made. During this special cleanliness activity, Sanitation Directorate of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) with the collaboration of concerned formations of CDA is clearing back log from sectorial area, Khanna and Lehtrarr road etc. while sweeping in different areas of the city is also being ensured.
In this context, Assistant Commissioners and Magistrates were deputed to supervise the operation to ensure swift, prompt and efficient disposal of garbage dumps in addition to take action against elements involved in the littering and dumping of waste in the open areas and markets. In this context, fines around Rs.50,000/ have been imposed on the elements involved in littering and dumping of waste particularly in the markets of the city. Moreover, door to door collection of garbage has also been resumed.
