Gilani condemns arrest of Hurriyet leader

Srinagar, February 02, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has strongly condemned the arrest of Tehsil President of his party, Tehreek-e-Hurriyet (TeH) Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Abdullah Nasir, a resident of Palhalan area of Baramulla district. Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Abdullah Nasir and 18 other boys were once again implicated in false case of the killing a policeman who had died in a road accident. He said that Nasir was recently exonerated by the court in the case of killing a Sarpanch.

The veteran leader pointed out that the police were only serving the purpose of pro-India party, National Conference, and trying to appease the authorities in New Delhi. He said that the ruling party with the help of police was paving way for conducting so-called elections in occupied Kashmir and for this purpose Hurriyet leaders and activists were arrested and implicated in fake cases.

Syed Ali Gilani also reiterated his three-day shutdown call from February 9 to February 11, to press the demand for return of mortal remains of martyred liberation leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru, from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail.
