Gilani, others condemn Masarrat Aalam’s re-arrest

Srinagar, December 31, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference (APHC) Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, and other resistance leaders have condemned the re-arrest of senior Hurriyet leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (JKML), Masarrat Aalam Butt, and termed it frustration of the authorities.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Our apprehension that fate of quashing of the 34th draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) will not be different from the previous ones and his re-arrest proved it right.”

He said that Kashmir was directly ruled by Sangh Parivaar and local stooges, even if they want, have no authority in any of the affairs. “In this place of deaf and dumb, we are facing this lawlessness for last 70 years and the oppressor is bulldozing every move which they think can challenge their authority. Those with tall claims of democracy and upholding the ethos of law and judiciary molest these institutions themselves,” he added.

The JKML leader, Feroz Ahmad Khan, in his statement in Srinagar denounced the continued detention of the party Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, and said that despite the court orders he was not released. He said that the oppressive measure by the Indian forces could not suppress the freedom sentiment of the Kashmiri people and they would take the ongoing liberation movement to its logical conclusion at all costs.

The Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement (JKMM), Farida Bahenji, in a statement in Srinagar condemned the authorities for re-arresting Masarrat Aalam Butt despite the court orders for his release. She also condemned the continued illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders and activists languishing in different jails and police stations and demanded their immediate release.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Muzahmat, Bilal Siddiqui, in a statement denouncing the re-arrest of Masarrat Aalam Butt said that he was being subjected to vengeance and it was ridiculous to detain him on flimsy grounds.

The Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Political, Farooq Ahmed Tawheedi, in a statement also condemning the re-arrest of Masarrat Aalam butt termed it frustration of the puppet authorities.
