Gilani’s continued house detention undemocratic: Hakim

Srinagar, May 12, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the President of pro-India People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and member of the so-called Legislative Assembly, Hakim Muhammad Yasin, has expressed serious concern over the continued house arrest of the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, demanding lifting of all restrictions imposed on him.

Hakim Muhammad Yasin addressing a public meeting at Khan Sahab in Budgam termed the continued house detention of Syed Ali Gilani as sheer violation of democratic norms.

“It needs sustained practical struggle to get Kashmir issue resolved. Mere utterances cannot lead to its solution,” he said, “the resolution of Kashmir issue is panacea for all maladies. Delaying its solution will lead to further woes, miseries and troubles.”

Hakim Yasin maintained that elections in occupied Kashmir are held only for running administrative affairs and these have nothing to do with resolution of the Kashmir dispute. “Linking elections with resolution of Kashmir issue is unrealistic and denial of historical facts,” he added.
