Government responsible for taking care of minorities’ rights: Ashrafi

Islamabad, December 25, 2020 (PPI-OT): Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Religious Harmony, Maulana Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi has said it is responsibility of the government to take care of the rights of all the minorities living in the country. Talking to a delegation led by Chairman National Minorities Commission Chela Ram Kewlani, he said faith in the prophets of Allah including Hazrat Essa (A.S) is basic part of our belief in Islam.

Maulana Tahir Ashrafi announced that joint sitting of the leadership of different religious schools of thought will be held in Islamabad during second week of next month. He said propaganda which is being carried out by Indian lobbies on the issue of religious freedom violation in Pakistan has been exposed as minorities living in Pakistan have more rights as compared to India and other parts of the world.

Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi also stated that ‘Kelash Community’ is very respected in Pakistan and he will personally visit Chitral to address the issues of this community. Chairman National Minorities Commission Dr Cheela Ram, speaking on this occasion, lauded the government’s efforts to facilitate minorities.
