Government to resolve business community problems on priority: Senator Syed Zafar Ali Shah

Islamabad, October 14, 2014 (PPI-OT): Senator Syed Zafar Ali Shah visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) to congratulate the newly elected office bearers of ICCI. He said businessmen were playing an important role in the economic development of the country and government was determined to address their major issues to facilitate the growth of business activities. He said Pakistan was facing many internal and external challenges and government needed some time to cope with these tough issues.

Syed Zafar Ali Shah said that government had inherited a weak economy, however, it was taking many initiatives to bring the economy back on track and put it on the path of sustainable growth. He said businessmen should remain hopeful for a better future as the efforts of current government to steer the country out of troubles would start producing positive results soon. He hoped that the new office bearers of ICCI would cooperate with the government in the efforts aimed at economic revival of the country.

Speaking at the occasion, MuzzamilHussainSabri President, Muhammad ShakeelMunir Senior Vice President and Muhammad AshfaqHussainChatha Vice President ICCI thanked Syed Zafar Ali for congratulating them. They highlighted many key issues being faced by the business community.

They said that economy of Pakistan was badly hit by multiple factors including the issue of terrorism, law and order problems and energy shortage and urged that government should take necessary measures to tackles these issues. They also assured that businessmen would extend all possible cooperation to the government in such efforts to resolve these issues on permanent basis in order to create better conditions for the growth of economic activities.

They said Pakistan needed a long-term GDP growth rate of 7 to 8 percent to absorb its increasing young population in the job market and this goal could only be achieved by attracting new investment as well as supporting the existing businesses to expand. They stressed that government should take all possible measures to enable businesses to flourish that would help in creating new employment opportunities and reducing poverty from the country.
