Governor Sindh lays foundation stone of flyover near Dakhana Liaquatabad

Karachi, October 07, 2012 (PPI-OT): Governor of Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad Khan on Saturday laid the foundation stone of third flyover scheduled to be constructed at the same time in the city. The flyover near Dakhana Liaquatabad at Shara-e-Pakistan would be completed in a short period of six months with an estimated cost of Rs369million.

According to details at the moment four flyovers were being constructed to make Shara-e- Pakistan signal free which include Waterpump, Aisha Manzil, Dakhana and Teen Hatti. On this occasion Provincial Minister for Health Dr. Saghir Ahmed, Provincial Minister Bauru of Supplies and Prices Shoaib Bukhari, Director General Technical Services Altaf G. Memon, Project Consultant Nadeem Ansari and other officials were present.

Governor of Sindh lying the foundation stone of flyover, said that Shara-e-Pakistan was an important corridor which connects city to superhighway whereas more than 15 bus routes go on this corridor.

Besides 6000 buses and mini buses, heavy traffic and private vehicles to inside the country pass through this corridor therefore it has been decided to make this corridor signal free till highway to improve traffic flow on this corridor.

Several roads from inside connect to this central corridor which cause traffic jam on these four roundabouts and wastage of time for citizens. Governor Sindh directed to continue construction work on this flyover non-stop and enforce traffic diversion plan to prevent citizens from any inconvenience.

Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed on this occasion while giving a briefing informed governor sindh that this 460 meter long flyover will be completed with a cost of Rs369.978 million and three lanes each along with 8 spans and 64 girders and 112 piles will be constructed in this project.

Administrator Karachi informed that flyover at Waterpump intersection will cost Rs493 million, flyover at Aisha Manzil with Rs 378.20 million whereas flyover at Teen Hatti with Rs266.65 million and foundation stone of this will be laid this week.

He also informed that after the completion of corridor 5 the citizens going to Marton Road, Liaquatabad, Lasbela, PIB Colony, Nazimabad, Azizabad, Ancholi, Karimabad and Superhighway will be facilitated.

Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed further informed that improvement plan for traffic beneath flyovers has also been prepared.
