Lahore, May 23, 2018 (PPI-OT): Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) rolled out the Restaurant Invoice Monitoring System (RIMS) in Lahore and Faisalabad for the Punjab Revenue Authority in September 2015, which is helping to get food businesses registered with the tax authorities and it has received encouraging response by reporting sales tax Rupees two billion seven hundred fifty-four million one hundred thirty-two thousand seven hundred forty-five only (Rs. 2,754,132,745/-) through Seventeen million one hundred forty-six thousand one hundred sixty-seven (17,146,167) invoices from different restaurants of the two major cities of Punjab province.
Getting people to pay their taxes is an insurmountable task. The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) came up with a unique, and significant way to enhance the number of taxpayers in Lahore, the capital city of Pakistan’s largely populated province and Faisalabad. RIMS is now being extended to the other Divisions of the Punjab Province.
RIMS connected 400 plus restaurants to verify and asses the tax amount being received, by sending RIMS team to the restaurants frequently. Balloting system on the bases of received invoices has been highly appreciated by the citizens. Thousands of peoples participate in balloting and get prizes by lucky draw every month. RIMS also has email notification system, which trigger if no tax is received from any restaurant.
