Karachi, September 03, 2013 (PPI-OT): Chairman, Duty Drawback Committee, Pakistan Tanners Association, Mr. S. Anjum Zafar has appealed to the FBR to order settlement of the crores of rupees Duty DrawBack refund claims under WeBoc and Manual systems of PTA’s those member exporters who have so far provided their details which have been sent to the Customs Export Collectorate, Karachi.
Mr. Anjum Zafar informed that despite due claims of Duty DrawBack submitted to the office of the Collector of Customs, Karachi and issuance of reminders refund cheques have not been released as yet and the members concerned are facing financial crunch when their business are already dwindling due to frequent loadsheding of gas and power deteriorating law and order situation as well as day to day increase in price of Petrolium products etc.
The Chairman, DDB Committee has requested the FBR authorities concerned to probe into this unwarranted procrastination and help resolve the problem in question harming the leather export sector.
More importantly it has been pointed out to the customs that the tanners are in acute need of sufficient funds to purchase hides and skins in bulk quantity in the forthcoming Eid-ul- Azha Qurbani days for producing quality finished leather for export to the world market to fetch sizeable foreign exchange for the national kitty. So expeditious settlement of outstanding Rebate claims is of imperative need.
