In order to provide relief to environmental affected fishermen an amount of Rs 4.8 million has been released to provide financial assistance of Rs5000 to each affectee: Qaim Ali Shah

Karachi, February 05, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that in order to provide relief to the environmental affected fishermen at Manchhar lake an amount of Rs: 4.8 million has been released to the authorities to provide financial assistance of Rs5000 to each affectee. He directed the authorities to arrange these relief cheques distribution among the beneficiaries without further delay.

In a meeting with the officers of Provincial Zakat Management the Chief Minister said that a independent survey was conducted to identify the affected fishermen with their personal Data, subsequently 968 fishermen were identified and recommended for financial assistance.

He said that since all necessary formalities have been completed, the relief cheques each of Rs 5000 should be provides to the beneficiaries, without further delay. The Chief Minister Sindh also directed to the management, engaged in the construction of the houses for fishermen to expedite the works and complete their task to facilitate the beneficiaries at earliest.

The CM Sindh directed the EPA Management to conduct survey about contamination issues of Manchhar Lake and submit report with recommendation for redressal of the issue on permanent basis.
