India has given its troops a free hand to kill Kashmiris: JI IOK

Srinagar, September 23, 2013 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has said that India has given its troops a free hand to kill innocent Kashmiris with impunity.

A JI delegation led by Zahid Ali visited Palhalan area of Pattan and expressed solidarity with the families of two youth, Muhammad Yaqoob and Bilal Ahmed Butt, who were recently martyred by Indian troops in a fake encounter.

The JI statement said that the locals told the delegation that the troops first arrested the youth, took them to a local school in a half-dead condition and then killed them in a fake encounter. They said that the youth had visible marks of torture on their bodies.

Addressing a condolence meeting on the occasion, Zahid Ali said that this was not the first incident in which the troops killed innocents. He said that hundreds of Kashmiris had been martyred in fake encounters but not a trooper involved in such killings had been brought to justice.
