Srinagar, January 31, 2013 (PPI-OT): One of the India-appointed interlocutors on Kashmir, Professor Radha Kumar has admitted that their efforts, hard work and interactions with the Kashmiri people have gone all in vain.
Professor Radha Kumar in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Kashmiris were disappointed the way the Indian government made a fun of their report and recommendations made by the team of interlocutors headed by renowned journalist, Dilip Padgounkar.
Radha said that India “cared a fig for our report and recommendations. Kashmiri people are disappointed and I am admitting that.” She added that if their recommendations did not suit New Delhi, “at least it should do something concrete to address the problems of Kashmiri people on its own.”
She said that most of the recommendations made by the interlocutors were ignored and only minor ones were taken into the account. “I personally believe that Kashmiri people are suffering and no change has taken place there.
She said the Interlocutors have not disappointed people but it is the Indian government, which has not taken the cognisance of their recommendations, adding that the reality is that the Indian government has shown no seriousness. She said dialogue is the only way to resolve issues.
The three interlocutors, Dileep Padgaonkar, Radha Kumar and M M Ansari submitted the report to the Indian Home Minister on October 13, 2011.
