Indian troops engaged in genocide of Kashmiris: Altaf Wani

Srinagar, September 15, 2013 (PPI-OT): The member of All Parties Hurriyet Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, Altaf Hussain Wani, has said that Indian troops violating all the international laws have been engaged in the continued genocide of the people in occupied Kashmir.

Altaf Hussain Wani, addressing a seminar on the sidelines of the 24th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva deplored that the United Nations had failed to stop violations of human rights by Indian troops in the occupied territory.

He said that the troops, repeating the 2010 incidents, recently killed innocent youth in Shopian. He stated that if the Indian government had punished the troopers involved in 2010 killings, the fresh killing spree would not have taken place.

Altaf Hussain Wani maintained that India could not suppress the Kashmiris’ ongoing liberation movement through use of brute force. The people of Kashmir would continue their struggle for securing their inalienable right to self-determination till success, he maintained.

He also informed in detail the UN Rapporteur on Extra-judicial Killings and Working Group for Missing Persons and Office of the Human Rights Commissioner about the recent incidents of civilian killings by Indian troops in Shopian, Gool, Kulgam and Srinagar.

He said that the Hurriyet leaders, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Nayeem Ahmad Khan and Zafar Akbar Butt had been place under house arrest and the human rights activists, Pervez Imroz, Khurram Pervez, Hameeda Nayeem, Zamruda Habib and Muhammad Ahsan Untoo were not only being harassed but also not being provided with the travel documents.

Kashmiri representatives, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi, Sardar Amjad Yousuf, Sardar Asadullah Khan, Ms Shamim Shawl and Maria Shah also accompanied him.
