Islamabad: Federal Minister for Labour and Manpower, Ch. Wajahat Hussain has said that welfare of Industrial Workers is the top priority of our Government and every possible step will be taken to protect the rights of the workers, he said this while talking to a delegation of All Pakistan Worker’s Welfare Boards Employee Union, who called on Federal Minister.
Delegation representing about 4500 employees of the board all over Pakistan, told the Federal Minister that Worker’s Welfare Fund was established in 1971, for the industrial and mine workers of whole country with 2% deduction. The Fund include plans to provide the residential flats, dowry grants, death grant, talent scholarships, schools, industrial homes, kidney centres, burin centres, Labour Medical College, to the employees and child of the industrial and mine workers.
They said that the devolution of workers welfare fund to the provinces under 18thAmendment will result in the economic suppression of these workers, and therefore demanded that the Labour. Division should not be devolved. They also demanded implementation of financial Package, Pension, Gratuity Promotion Policy and to provide residential Plots to all the workers all over the country.
