Srinagar, August 05, 2014 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Chief Patron of Jammu Kashmir Mahaz-e-Azadi (MeA), Muhammad Azam Inqilabi has paid rich tributes to prominent martyred leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz on the eve of his sixth anniversary.
In a statement issued in Srinagar, Inqilabi said, “The resistance stalwart, Sheikh Aziz, achieved martyrdom while leading a sea of people towards Muzaffarabad, in a move to smash away the bloody line that separates the Kashmiris forcibly.”
He said Aziz along with senior resistance leaders, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Khan and Peer Saifullah, were leading a mammoth procession when Indian troops opened fire on peaceful protestors. Aziz along with nearly a dozen marchers died on August 11, 2008 near Chayal, Uri.
“The protestors were shouting ‘Break the Berlin wall (ceasefire line) and unite our Kashmir’.” He said on August 12, 2008, following massive protests against the killing of Aziz and others, police and troops opened fire again killing 22 people.
He urged for solidarity with Kashmiri martyrs and those languishing in jails during these days. “On August 13, 1948 UN Security Council passed a resolution favouring right of self-determination to the Kashmiris,” he added.
