Inspector General National Highways and Motorway Police directs officers to ensure strict enforcement of law on motorways

Islamabad, June 28, 2013 (PPI-OT): Inspector General, National Highways and Motorway Police, Zulfiqar Ahmad Cheema has asked the patrolling officers of National Highways and Motorway Police while addressing a Police Darbar at Khairabad near Nowshera on GT road. He said that NH and MP is such an institution upon which every police officer in Pakistan feels proud.

He said that it is the duty of every official of NH and MP to protect and fight for its dignity and nobility. He said to officers that honesty and courtesy to road users is their identity which is a precious asset of motorway police. He added that every officer should protect this asset. While addressing the police darbar he said to officers to perform their duty without fear and favour in implementation of law.

He directed to patrolling officers to ensure strict enforcement of law on Motorways and at N-5 and lane discipline at N-5 be ensured by keeping the heavy and slow moving vehicles in discipline. He also passed directions to provide complete safety and security to the commuters at all times. He said that no underage and without license driver would be allowed to travel on Motorways and at Highways. He warned the without license drivers not to drive their vehicles.

The Inspector General also ordered to ensure equal application of law irrespective of one’s status. He said that immediate help be extended to the road users in distress and special care be given to the patients, old age persons, ladies and children.

He advised them to make the NH and MP as model institution in Asia with their good behaviour and courtesy. He said that very soon he would have a meeting with the Prime Minister of Pakistan and get a special package for Motorway Police.

He warned that if any officer in NH and MP from top to bottom found guilty of corruption, he would be expelled from service. He said that it is the prime responsibility of NH and MP in providing safe and secure travelling to the road users. He said that he would himself visit Motorways and Highways to ensure implementation of law in true spirit to provide safe and secure roads to the people of Pakistan.
